Gay Guide Network supports the first Lanzarote Pride

The first Orgullo Fiesta GLBT de Lanzarote - the Gay Pride of the island - culminates today with a seafront fiesta in the island’s capital, Arrecife.
GLBT groups Lanzate and Proyecto Planet joined forces with Black & White bar, Puerto del Carmen, to organise the event for the GLBT population of the island.
The sea-front party was a resounding success, after an afternoon siesta, the celebrations moved to Black & White bar in the Centro Atlantico.
Gay Guide Network provided support to Orgullo by helping to arrange online advertising, giving help and advice, and providing promotional items.
Several years ago a gay fiesta was attempted in the island’s resort of Playa Blanca. Although the day itself was a success, the event was not repeated.
“It’s so good to see the people of the island enjoying themselves and having their own Fiesta, ” says Gay Guide Network’s Simon. “The network is pleased that the local groups on the island have organised their own gay pride fiesta, with the help of the Cabildo and Ayuntiamento. We really do hope that together, Lanzate, Proyecto Planet, Black & White and Lanzarote Gay Guide can build on the success of this first pride and get even bigger for next year.”
